HUGE, Mid Century Modern, Red Enameled Copper & Pewter Platter designed & handmade by Nekrassoff. I have never seen a larger piece by this Master Coppersmith & Enamelist! Piece measures 11.25" diameter, 14.5" at widest (with handles), 1.25" deep, 7" handle length. Enormous and in pristine condition.
Serge Nekrassoff, 1895 - 1985, Russian-American Modernist. This work was likely produced in his studio in Darien, Connecticut (1930 - late 1940s). Pieces were made of pewter, copper, and a combination of pewter and copper. At this time his son, Boris, joined him to design and make decorative items. The shop appears to have employed up to 18 craftsmen during this period. Each piece is stamped in script, "Nekrassoff" on the back.
